Zhang Yimou's first film after the Beijing Olympics, A SIMPLE NOODLE STORY, has finally been completed. This film is based on the famous American writer/director team the Coen Brothers' 1985 classic first film BLOOD SIMPLE, an original story with thrill and suspense all in one. Mainland actors Sun Honglei and top comedy star Xiao Shenyang starred in this murder comedy that three bullets trigger.

After directing THE CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER in 2006, Zhang Yimou focused on preparing the Beijing Olympic opening and closing ceremony performance. A SIMPLE NOODLE STORY was his first big screen production in over two years. He chose an unexpected story, a remake of the Coen Brothers' classic BLOOD SIMPLE, in a Chinese costume period piece.
