[2012.10.05] AARON KWOK AND TONY LEUNG KA FAI COMPETE FOR ANOTHER BEST ACTOR AWARD TOGETHER

Tony Leung Kai Fai and Aaron Kwok Fu Sing worked together on the Johnnie To Kei Fung film THROW DOWN (YAU DOH LUNG FU BONG), At the 2005 Golden Horse Award and 2006 Hong Kong Film Award they competed. Finally Sing Sing won the Golden Horse Best Actor while Ka Fai won the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor, an even split of sorts!

Speaking of first meeting, Leung Ka Fai who had an earlier start in the film industry admitted that when he first saw Sing Sing jump from music to movies he was upset. Ka Fai said, "When he joined the film industry, he already was the king of dance. At the time I thought why would he stick his foot in here, don't come to the film industry to 'hit soy sauce', just do what he was good it. Later I discovered how much variety he had in his role selection. Some were even very difficult. He would take some alternative films. I slowly understood that he truly wanted to be a good actor, he wanted to achieve something in film and was an outstanding actor who had a goal. How can I not silently support and encourage him!"

Just the opposite, Sing Sing's impression of Ka Fai has never changed from the start. Sing Sing said, "If everyone looked back at the interviews years ago, they would discover the years ago I already said that Ka Fai is an actor I really like. I feel that he is a natural born actor with a charisma. When the film company told me that this time my COLD WAR (HONG JIN) co-star was him, I really couldn't be happier. Working with him could trigger a tremendous explosion."

Aside from explosion, Leung Ka Fai even joked that they had a chemistry that came within. They did not say much and would already coincidentally did their best with a good script. They would not steal scenes, fight over scenes, they were good partners that put people's minds at ease.

Since they appreciated each other so much, a good question arose. Once film award rivals, if they competed again with the new film who would win? Leung Ka Fai's answer was the most centered. "If it really happens, from a fairness angle I would feel I shouldn't win, he shouldn't win either. The best would be both winning it together. We even have to hold hands to accept it. That can increase our future collaboration chances because directors may have fantasies about us and want to use us again. Then we can compete in another film." Sing Sing agreed.
