[2020.12.01] DEMON SLAYER BECOMES THE SECOND HIGHEST GROSSING FILM IN JAPAN

The animated film THE MOVIE DEMON SLAYER: KIMETSU NO YAIBA MUGEN TRAIN since its October release in Japan has been hot at the box office. Yesterday the film company announced the DEMON SLAYER in its 7th week of release already reached 27.51 billion yen at the box office, surpassing the 1997 release of TITANIC and its 26.2 billion yen for the second highest grossing film in Japan. Its admission rate also passed 20 million viewers. DEMON SLAYER will challenge SPIRIT AWAY's 30.8 billion yen box office record.

In Hong Kong, its box office has already passed HK$ 27 million, surpassing Hayao Miyazaki's SPIRIT AWAY and all of his other films' Hong Kong box office records. It became the third highest grossing Japanese animation in Hong Kong history, the top of which was STAND BY ME: DORAEMON 3D with HK$ 46.89 million and the second place was YOUR NAME with HK$ 32.11 million.
