Sean Lau Ching Wan earlier received the Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild character award. He said that he has been a very lucky actor, constantly running into people with good intentions to present him with good scripts. He also remembered to encourage Hong Kong screenwriters who are silently toiling away, wishing that despite the variety of changes they would maintain their original intent. Winning again this time after the Film Directors' Guild, Ching Wan's Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor chance just got better.

The Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild earlier held a large scale banquet. Louis Koo Tin Lok, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Lin Minchen, Derek Yee Tung Sing and others attended. The Guild even presented its "Best Film Character of the Year" to the Emperor Motion Pictures DETECTIVE VS. SLEUTHS (SUN TAM DAI JIN)'s character "Lee Chun". Actor Sean Lau Ching Wan, screenwriters Wai Ka Fai, Chan Wai Bun and Mak Tin Au all won. Ching Wan this year with DETECTIVE was nominated for the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor. Earlier he also won the Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild Best Actor, with another recognition from the industry his Hong Kong Film Award chances might have improved!

Ching Wan accepted the award from guest presenter Koo Tin Lok. He humbly said, "I am very lucky to have become an actor, because I constantly run into people with good intentions, receive many intelligent and interesting scripts." With the lyrics of Jacky Cheung Hok Yau's hit FARAWAY HER, "If the passion hasn't changed, who cares about all the changes", he cheered on screenwriters who silently toiled for Hong Kong film in a rather thoughtful way.

Wai Ka Fai and Chan Wai Bun due to work were unable to attend. Mak Tin Au "apologized" to Ching Wan when he accepted the award. "I have always thought I knew what 'flying paper' was, but when I followed Mr. Wai, I realized that I was pretty naive. Ching Wan and Mr. Wai have worked together often, of course they had chemistry to spare. I remember on the set the script was still warm (because it was just printed), then I handed it to him (Ching Wan). He said no problem, but I still felt a little bad. I really never thought about 'flying' German dialogue to you, even though you said it wasn't difficult. I am fully sorry as I accept this award, thank you everyone!"

A few words showed Ching Wan's acting ability and character, no wonder many guests fought over getting a photo with him. Goddess Lin Minchen took the chance to take a photo with Louis Koo Tin Lok and he even made her trademark gesture to sell cuteness.
