Radio Hong Kong's 36th Top Ten Chinese Top Ten Gold Song Awards last night took place at the Kowloon Bay Exhibition Center. Joey Yung Cho Yi won the Most Excellent Female Singer Award for the tenth time. Eason Chan Yik Shun won the Most Excellent Male Singer Award for the ninth time. They also won the "National Best Male and Female Singer Awards", "The Highest Selling Male and Female Singer of the Year" and Gold Song awards. Eason again with FREE TO ROAM won the Global Chinese Best Gold Song award. With 6 awards he became the big winner.

Eason after looking upset and giving a lackluster performance at the Commercial Radio Ultimate Awards last night maintained his smile. He even reduced his speeches by almost 90%, a change from his usual long winded style.

Eason accepted the Gold Song award and performed FREE TO ROAM. Then he accepted National Best Male Singer and performed MAIN THEME. His performance was serious and professional, proving that he sang from the heart and was not slacking at award shows. When Patrick Tse Yin presented an award he asked Eason how many awards he has won. Eason said that he has not counted them yet, but he was very happy to win each one. Indirectly he denied rumors that he no longer intended to accept awards.

Eason last night continued to be the big winner with 6 awards. As for the 5 award winning Yung Cho Yi, her voice was still hoarse but he braved the chill for fashion. Sh was considered the sexiest singer of the evening. When Paula Tsui Siu Fung presented the National Best Male and Female Singer, she described the music scene variety with her hit ROAST PORK BUN. When Joey accepted the award, the host joked that she was a red bean paste bun now and hoped to be vegetable and meat bun soon. Joey said, "At most I am the little chicken bun, as a singer I hope to be able to do my part for the music scene." Eason asked Sister Siu Fung when her concert will take place because he had to catch her show. Sister Siu Fung took the chance to ask him to be a guest performer but he still would need to line up.

Last night the results had no surprise, as it pleased everyone as much as possible. The 10 Excellent Popular Singers were Chan Yik Shun, Yung Cho Yi, Hacken Lee Hak Kun, Alfred Hui Ting Hung, G.E.M., Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, Kary Ng Yu Fei, Ivana Wong Yuen Chi, Kay Tse On Kay, Hins Cheung King Hin, but four were unable to the Top Ten Gold Songs. Hui Ting Hung was selected for the first time. Pakho Chau and C AllStar were squeezed out, as they could only be in the top three for the Best Improvement of the Year award with Supper Moment.

Julian Cheung Chi Lam who once made the "loyal children" comment at the TVB Anniversary Award show won the Gold Song award with his remake of AGE LIKE SONG. Guest presenter Gordon Lam Ka Tung joked that he did not know whether he was a bastard or biological son. Cheung Chi Lam said, "I don't dare to say it again, every time I speak it's wrong." G.E.M.'s remake of YOU GOT ME DRUNK won the Mandarin Song Gold Prize. Janice Vidal (Wai Lan) and restarting in music Mag Lam Yun Tung also won a spot in the Top Ten Gold Songs.

The salute segment saluted the late Wong Ka Kui, Danny Chan Pak Keung, Roman Tam (Law Man), Anita Mui Yim Fong, and Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing, with their friends and family sharing their feeling. The event even arranged for Tse On Kay, Supper Moment, Wong Yuen Chi and Cheung Chi Lam to perform classic songs with The Voice of China singers. Unfortunately the results were mixed.

Chan Kin Tim regretted that he was unable to speak to Ka Kui one last time. Dior Cheng Yi Kin remembered Law Man being serious at work and at play.

Chan Pak Keung's father said that his song had many great songs. Sammi Cheng Sau man said that Chan Pak Keung's music brought inspiration and would also remain trendy.

Chan Suk Fun said that Cheung Kwok Wing was a close friend who made anyone take the initiative to tell him any idea. Eric Tsang Chi Wai described Mui Yim Fong as everyone's good friend. He spent more time with Ah Mui than his family. Jacky Cheung Hok Yau said that at anytime looking back at Hong Kong music and film industry history, Mui Yim Fong would still be a figure.

At the end of the segment Sita Chan Hei Yi who passed away last year was mentioned and was a name that everyone would remember.

Janice Man Wing Shan was a guest presenter. Her rumor with Nicholas Tse Ting Fung became a topic. The host asked her if she had to choose a handsome, cool male artist who could sing, act and be a company boss, who would she choose? JM answered without any expression, "My boss (Leon Lai Ming)!" The host said, "Although he qualifies, the one I was thinking about was different." JM also said that she would like to work with Chan Yik Shun on a film the most.

The DJs also set up Tse On Kay during the commercial break, saying that she and her husband Louis Cheung Kai Chung will soon celebrate their 7th anniversary and demanded for Cheung Kai Chung to buy itch prevention ointment. Joey Leung Wing Chung asked Tse On Kay to give a speech. Tse On Kay said, "Giving a speech isn't my expertise, it's better for me to officially thank you. I am sorry to have overlooked you!"

ATV Yip Ka Bo earlier criticized "TVB Best Actress" Krystal Tin Yui Nei for not remembering where she came from. Tin Yui Nei as a guest presenter again took a jab at him. "First I have to clarify that I am not returning to music again, since I have been in the business I have been stepped foot in music. Now I am taking my first sip from the music scene water, I feel like I am about to die from thirst. Now everyday I would remember where it comes from when I take every sip of water."
